Don’t agree with da body-builders
Googling ‘tendon rejuvenating supplements’ for the tendonitis of my arms and now a “frayed” tendon in my foot, I came across a body-building site chatting up natural steroids amongst many other things.
As I was about to click the back button my eyes caught this TAKE PRIDE IN YOUR PAIN, YOU ARE STRONGER THAN THOSE WHO HAVE NONE. (things deemed screamingly [is that a word?] IMPORTANT= all caps)
I’m not sure how to describe what I felt but it led me to post this…
Let’s actually NOT TAKE PRIDE IN OUR PAIN. WE ARE STRONGEST (HAPPIEST) WITHOUT IT. We just need to find ways to be without it.
Two things that rush to mind is listen to yourself (be authentic or, as how to be a walking Momtra™ says be your own guru) more often and attempt to lessen instances where you find yourself competing in a painful or hurtful way, with others or yourself more often. Sometimes it’s subtle so you have to pay close, close attention. Not just for today or tomorrow but o-f-t-e-n.
That fits with the personal piece on my injuries I recently wrote for tinybuddha.com. Check it out, How to Grow From Mistakes (and how a spiral staircase can work as a great visual to do that). And if you don’t have time to read the whole thing skip to the ‘Change your Perspective’ tips at the end.
Last but not least, Arnold Schwarzenegger. Though I’m pretty sure he would disagree with my coining of his :43 second video as “pure comedic relief”, that’s ok. It’s a must watch and this nugget is only one of a few “The best feeling you can get in the gym or the most satisfying…is the pump”. Or maybe this should read “The best feeling you can get in the gym or the most satisfying… IS THE PUMP.”
Though the :32 seconds of ‘Deep Thoughts by Schwarzenegger’ is pretty brilliant, the :11 seconds of eery music might have him beat.
Overall, don’t agree with the body-builders. Leave with this ~ don’t take pride in pain, brought on by yourself or by others, in work, leisure or relationships. You’re strongest without it.
